Looking after your first car
I finally have my own car, its great going to places without having to rush back but it’s not as great as I thought it will be. When I was sharing a car with my dad, I didn’t have to do anything apart from driving it around and so I wasn’t aware of all the responsibility that came with it.
After a week of being a proud owner of a new car, my dad gives me a load of paper work and says I’ll need it in a few weeks time. At first I was confused, but when I went through it all I realised that there is so much a car need to get done each year.
First in the list of responsibility is to book the car in for a service, but I have no idea where to go to get it done. I asked my dad to help me sort my car out, which will mean less headache for me but I was really surprised by his answer.
My dad refused to help me find a place that does Ford servicing in Essex; apparently it’s my punishment for bugging him to buy me a car. I can’t believe he will just sit there and watch me stress over my car, to make it worse, he decided to remind me that the road tax is due to end next month.
Now I was in panic because I didn’t have clue about what I need to take with me to renew the road tax and I wasn’t sure if the car’s MOT was still in date. Having my own car is a total nightmare.
